Who can apply?
All Memphis-area high school students in grades 9–12, either individually or in teams of up to 3.
Do I need a full business plan?
No. just a clear idea and short answers about your problem, solution, and why it matters.
Does my idea have to be a tech startup?
Yes, applications must focus on technology-driven innovation (AI, HealthTech, FinTech, etc.).
Is there a cost to apply or participate?
No, the competition is free to enter.
How many teams will be selected?
Around 10–20 finalist teams will be chosen.
What happens if my team is selected?
You’ll get access to a workshop and optional mentorship sessions in December to prepare your pitch.
What is the pitch format?
Each team has 5 minutes to present, followed by 3–5 minutes of Q&A with the judges.
Who will judge the competition?
Judges will include Ridgeline VC partners and Memphis business leaders.
What are the prizes?
1st place: $10,000; 2nd place: $5,000, plus certificates and mentorship opportunities.
When and where is the final event?
On MLK Day, January 17, 2026, at Crosstown Concourse in Memphis.
Can students from different schools form a team together?
Yes, teams can be made up of students from different schools.
Can I submit more than one idea?
No, each student or team may only submit one idea.
What if I don’t have a team? Can I still apply alone?
Yes, individual students are welcome to apply.
Do finalists need to build a prototype?
No, a working prototype isn’t required; a strong idea and pitch are enough.
Can family, friends, and teachers attend the competition?
Yes, the event is open to family, friends, and the community.
Can teachers or mentors help during preparation?
Yes, they can provide advice and feedback, but the pitch itself must be student-driven.
If my team wins, how will prize money be awarded (check, split, etc.)?
Prize money will be issued as a team check, and it’s up to team members to split it fairly.
